Our Mission

Prairie Gold Foundation is taking on hunger relief while establishing grasslands

1- Procurement and distribution of sustainably produced food:

Purchasing sustainably produced food, including organic eggs, pasture-raised meats, and organic vegetables, from farms, producers, and aggregation businesses in the Upper Midwest and donating or distributing the food to hunger-relief organizations and food-insecure communities.

2- Land conservation and grassland support:

Providing grant support to farmers and landowners to establish, restore, and maintain native grasslands, prairies, savannas, and other conservation-oriented land uses, along with related infrastructure and planning (such as seed, fencing, water infrastructure, establishment labor, and management planning), to improve soil health, water quality, biodiversity, and long-term agricultural resilience on working lands that support hunger-relief food systems.

Feeding the People By Restoring the Prairie

Step One

Support small to mid-sized ecologically-minded farms by purchasing high quality foods at prices that allow the farmers to support their families, farms, and conservation work.

Step Two

Distribute the foods to established hunger-relief organizations with reliable and efficient distribution capacity in order to reach the people who need the food the most.

Step Three

Provide continued support for the farms through a grant program to help establish, restore, and maintain grasslands on the properties they steward in an effort to instill long-term agricultural resilience.

Let’s work together to build a more resilient Wisconsin.
